Edwards sends Brownson the arrangements for the ceremony at Notre Dame. Father Thomas E. Walsh fears that Edwards has been an annoyance to Brownson and Father Ernest Van Dyke, who he hopes will say a few words at the ceremony. If Brownson has engravings made he is to state under each picture the name of the painter and the University of Notre Dame. Edwards was sorry to hear of Brother Gregory's John Noonan death. He suggests that Hudson and Father Thomas Walsh take a trip to Europe for their health. Archbishops James Gibbons, Patrick J. Ryan, and Father John S. Foley, all stopped at Cape May. Edwards visited each and they promised articles for the Notre Dame Historical Cabinet. Edwards spent a day with John Gilmary Shea at Elizabeth. Hickey also made his stay in New York pleasant. Edwards expects to remain in Baltimore until Tuesday then go to Washington and return to Notre Dame via New York. Hudson's letter directed to Long Branch arrived last night. He regrets to hear Hudson is not well. He should ask for a vacation. Mrs. Dunbar is stronger and he is trying his best to leave her.
