He assures McMaster that he will give attention to the matter of the Fetterman estate. Speaks of the visit of Mr. Aughenback of Fort Wayne, Ind., who has sacrificed his time to teach the young there. The Catholics of Fort Wayne need a chance to make their Easter duty. Asks that he be made vicar to Father S.T. Badin, who is vicar of Bardstown, so that he can take care of them before going into Michigan. It was hard to get any relics of Joseph Cretin, Bishop of St. Paul, Minnesota but he sends a lock of his hair and the quill through which the Bishop inhaled camphor. He also sends the letter of the aged priest companion of the Bishop from whom he received these mementoes.

In looking over some old papers he found the enclosed photo of Archbishop John Ireland of St. Paul taken after his ordination. There is not another one of them in existence. Following the advice of his confessor, it is best to seek a bishop, since his health does not permit life in a community. He has had the honor of knowing Lefevere and Detroit. ` P.S. The people of Hubbardston have commenced the building of their church, making an assessment of $6,000 in legal notes. Bolte invites Lefevere to bless the cornerstone. If he cannot come he asks that a delegate be sent. He thinks, but is not sure, that faculties were given him some time ago. P.S.
