Scope and Contents
Barnabo has received Purcell's letter of September 21 concerning the resignation of Bishop George Carrell of Covington and concerning Bishop Amadeus Rappe of Cleveland . As to the diocese of Covington, Barnabo has weighed well the proposal of Purcell. But if the resignation is accepted not one but three names of priests should be proposed to the Sacred Congregation and the other bishops of the province must give their opinions about them.
