Mrs. Stanley, his mother-in-law, now deceased, former owner of Avena, mother of Silvia whom the late James W. Byrne placed at a convent in New Orleans, received a letter from Byrne in 1860 in which he stated he would leave papers with Odin manumitting the girl and making provision for her support and education. Avena is now in Barbour's possession and is anxious to hear from her daughter. Barbour asks for news of her through the bearer of this letter. :: VI-2-h A.L.S. 2pp. 12mo.
