Barilleaux, F., Lafourche, Louisiana, to Archbishop John Mary Odin, C.M., New Orleans, Louisiana, 1865 April 8
Scope and Contents
The day for the sale of the pews approaches and there seems to be a fear among the parishioners about the administration of the church. Last year the pews brought in 1600 and some piastres. This year if Odin replies in time for the sale, it may bring in more as the parish is very large and they must have a large church. If Odin will give them all the revenue for some years they could soon have a new church and become one of the best parishes in diocese. The people would pay a high price for the pews if this money remained there for a new church. :: VI-2-i A.L.S. French 1p. Folio
