Yes, the mitre was used at his consecration, Oct. 28, 1895, and was given by the Sisters of Mercy of St. Xavier's Academy, Chicago. He sends Edwards by Mr. Corby's boys his crozier and the Cheyenne bulls. The crozier was presented to him by Archbishop Feehan on his appointment to Cheyenne. The papers erecting the diocese of Cheyenne are in Omaha. Burke had only a certified copy of them. :: XI-1-m A.L.S. 2pp.

It would be well for Edwards to send money to Mr. Ewing direct. He regrets that Msgr. Joseph Rosati's portrait is not satisfactory. In regard to his own portrait there is one in the American College in Rome which Ewing may copy. He may be slow but he will send his mitre, crozier, etc. without fail. :: XI-1-k A.L.S. 4pp.

He was happy to hear of Odin's good health. Father E.J. Foltier could not have picked a worse time for making a collection in St. Louis. The banks and merchants are "blowing up," and consequently the poor- -those who always give most—are the losers. The Professor Lugi Gregori is finishing his last picture in the Cathedral; his works have excited the greatest admiration. The Bishop is delighted with his portrait. He expressed a box containing a wooden crozier of Bishop Mathias Loras and one of his mitres. The Bishop John Hennessy gave them to Luigi Gregori who asked for them as models. The Bishop does not know their destination or the value they attach to them. They are all lonesome for Gregori; his name will not be forgotten as long as the Dubuque Cathedral stands. :: XI-1-d A.L.S. 3pp. 12mo.

He has sent Edwards a chasuble, mozetta, two pairs of sandals, three pairs of pontifical hose belonging to Bishop Mathias Loras, first bishop of Dubuque. They gave Gregori for Edwards a mitre and crozier of Loras. Edwards has sandals and mitre of Bishop Clement Smith, Smyth second bishop of Dubuque.

She arrived yesterday to stay for at least two weeks. She will write to Sister Scholastica and Maggie Birmingham. She is recovering as rapidly as can be expected when one considers her nervous temperament.

Burke has received Onahan's letter in regard to the appointment of Vice Presidents of the Catholic Congress. He highly recommends A. C. Campbell, United States Attorney of Wyoming, a good Catholic and excellent gentleman.
