Those charges against Mother Clare of the Sisters of Mercy are false. Sometimes the doctor had commanded her to take some porter or ale but that is all. There has been no restraint about any appeal to the Bishop or confessors. Feehan says she has a keen sense of responsibility. They all seem now in good spirits after an excellent retreat.
