Fearnley, John F., Louisville, Kentucky, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1889
Scope and Contents
Fearnley hoped to settle in Chicago, where he was confident of getting a good position but expectations fell through entirely. He drifted down to Kentucky and he is writing this on an island in the Ohio River where he is living with a party of German laborers who board him in return for his services as assistant cook. This afternoon Fearnley went to the nearest town, Glenview, the island is about eight miles from Louisville, to try and get work but he was unsuccessful. Fearnley wishes to know if it is possible to return to Notre Dame. If Hudson doesn't succeed then Fearnley asks Hudson to send him a letter that will enable him to get a position as a teacher. :: X-3-i A.L.S. 9pp. 8vo.
