McMaster left no will and Egan found himself at McMaster's death in an impossible position. Egan had arranged with James McMaster to take his two week vacation beginning September 1st and had planned to visit Hudson but illness prevented him from traveling to Notre Dame. Gill was called away and Egan had to take the Catholic World. He did not like the introduction or the reference to Mrs. Anna Hanson Dorsey 's poverty but he fancied from Hudson's note that it was intended to remind Catholic publishers of her needs. :: X-3-a A.L.S. 2pp. 12mo.

Egan can not understand what he has done to deserve so much affection from Hudson. It is a disappointment to Egan that he can not be with Hudson on the Assumption. The printers who are doing a new book which Egan translated, in order to pay his debts, could not do without him. Egan believes the "Freeman's Journal" will be sold today. Austin E.
