Keller asks to spend some time in Blanc's diocese. He has very much to do and is tired. He does not want to be idle, but would like a parish or church where he would have only his ministry. He speaks French, German, and a little English. He would ask permission of Father Augustine Ravoux, administrator of the diocese. He said in his late letter that he would be seeing him this week because he thought McFarland would be making changes immediately owing to the approaching erection of the new diocese. If this is not the case he will see McFarland after Easter. He asks McFarland to send word by telegraph after Easter. If an obstacle comes it will he made known in time. As to New Haven they are in no hurry.Father Michael O'Connor, S.J. is going home slowly but receives Holy Communion daily. Kelly recommends the bearer, Edward Begley ; he is a young man of excellent moral character. He goes to make inquiry regarding a brother and sister who were left destitute and are supposed to reside in Blanc's diocese. In another hand on the letter: Edward Begley, supposed to have died in Vicksburg about 1841 leaving a boy, 6 and a girl, 1 month. Mother died in 1844. Henry Aloysius Begley, Mary Begley . From what Kelly has seen of Detroit he considers it a gem of a city. Father Ernest Van Dyke will be confined to his room for at least a month or six weeks. He sprained his Knee playing baseball. They will require Hudson's services here on the 24th and 25th. He sends the ad to be published in the "Ave Maria". Father Peter Paul Cooney is a wretched looking speciment of humanity and appears to be very penitent. The members of the temperance Society declare it was better for their sake, it was the roof he fell from, and not the sidewalk. Father P.
