Spalding 's essay on the Virgin Mary reprinted in the volume that Kehoe has just issued, without reference to the Ave Maria for which it was originally written. Hudson holds the copyright. It is true Hudson did not pay for the essay, but did not offer remuneration for fear of giving offense. The volume was given favorable notice in the Ave Maria and the Scholastic.
