Father Edward Murphy, S.J., visited Sister Francis Clare. Archdeacon B. Cavanagh told her that Murphy has written to Hudson an account of Knock. She finds the Ave Maria belongs to the class of "fashionable" Catholics who are ashamed of Ireland, as they would have been ashamed of the Mother of God before the Christian world paid her homage. Poor Ireland— or rather she should say, rich Ireland, fashionable pupils will come and worship at the feet of her fruitful, patient — holy pupils. :: X-2-f A.L.S. 2pp. 8vo.

She sends Hudson one of her works. She sees Hudson noticed her Life of Daniel O'Connell ?. The enclosed was written by a priest of his diocese. She was at first unwilling to undertake the work having so much on hand but she could not refuse the "Primate of all Ireland" and so many of the clergy. Sister Clare is sure Hudson will find space in the Ave Maria for the letter of His Eminence Paul Cardinal Cullen. Cusack, Sister Mary Francis Clare, Knock, Ireland, to Archbishop Napoleon Joseph Perché, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1882 March 4
Sister desires to circulate Archbishop Thomas William Croke 's letter. She hopes to begin to build very soon and trusts that Perché will send a little help. :: VI-3-d A.L.S. 2pp. 8vo.

Cushing, Robert, Union Square New York, N.Y., to James F. Edwards, Notre Dame, Indiana, 1885 March 31
