O'Brien, on eve of ordination, requests Hennaert to send money for a new cassock; his past kindness leads him to hope he will grant this last favor. His many favors cause him to regret Hennaert's retirement as Administrator; as Vicar General, O'Brien hopes to know him more intimately. :: III-2-l A.L.S. 2pp. 12mo.

O'Brion has received Lefevere's letter informing him he will not pay what O'Brien owes there. He is instructed by his Superior to inform Lefevere of the expenses for the next year. O'Brien compliments McMaster on the quality of the Freeman's Journal, and sends $3 for his subscription. He is interested in the school problem, as he has seven children, five of them girls. He hopes that the Journal will keep up the good work, and that McMaster will be spared for the least another twenty five years to continue his work. During the Vermillion Ville Court O'Bryan spoke to the judge about Rousselon's resignation as executor of the estate of Father Anthony Désiré Mégret . The judge said that Rousselon could not resign. If Rousselon is disposed, O'Bryan will close up the business for $250. McCloskey put in an affidavit of defense in McMaster's suit against him, to the effect that the copy of McMaster's book account was not such an account that judgment could be had upon. He moved for judgment but the court held that the case would have to go to trial. He filed his declaration and is waiting for a plea. O'Byrne thanks Onahan for the "Call" to the Columbian Catholic Congress. O'Byrne doubts whether he will attend, but is willing to send a paper. He is especially qualified to do so because of experience amongst poverty and labor. He describes his work as poet and author and quotes praises from the Queen of Roumania, Gladstone, Cardinals Manning and Newman, and Archbishop Kirby. O'Byrne shall "write up" the Congress in the Press.
