O'Byrne, George: Nottingham, England to William J. Onahan: Chicago, Illinois, 1893 July 10
Scope and Contents
Due to poor health, O'Byrne declines the invitation to attend the (Columbian) Catholic Congress. He hopes the essay he sent to Onahan will be publicly read. He received the Detroit paper containing his poem on Columbus. The Royal Spanish Academy at Madrid has voted him thanks, while the "Brighton Gazette" has printed the princess' letter of eulogy to "the Nottingham poet." O'Byrne is at the Eden of fame. He congratulates Onahan on his St. Patrick's Day speech. Onahan is asked to give to his sister, Josephine, the enclosed verse. (No enclosure.)
