Scope and Contents McMaster's letter is an interesting and kind one. It is out of his power to avail himself of his suggestion. It would be a privilege to be concerned in giving the world the remains of a man like Carey, but he, Newman, is the last who should do it. Carey was high in the favor of his church. With Newman it is just the reverse although there may be many individuals who think kindly of him. It is plain that though Carey was born on this side of the Atlantic, he is the property of America....
