Dallas thanks Hudson for the picture of St. Stanislaus. The story "Bob's Vocation" which has been in the Ave Maria interests Dallas because the Navy was his first profession. The article by T. F. He returns the proof Hudson sent to him, as he is unable to do anymore. He has just heard of his commander, General Davis, in Chicago. Even though Davis was anti-Catholic Dallas remembers only his good qualities and his poor wife and daughter. Dallas has enrolled his daughter at Holy Cross Academy. Marie Dallas takes only three courses at the academy and is enrolled at Professor Messer's Art Academy. Dallas has forbidden Marie to walk in the street with gentlemen, or to be out after dark. He is sorry to learn that Montrose Graham has run away from home. Dallas has placed his two daughters with Sister Perpetua at Holy Cross Academy. He had to fight with Mrs. Dallas' people about placing the children with the sisters.
