O'Neill remarks that in the list published on Sept. 17, Thomas Connaly is listed. The name should be James, and O'Neill asks that the error be corrected. P.S. He remarks that though the paper is denied in Rosedale by the priests, O'Neill will always cling to McMaster. :: I-1-n A.L.S. 1p. 12mo.

 Item — Box CHUD 14
Identifier: CHUD X-3-k
Scope and Contents O'Neill sent an article on the Death and Assumption of Mary. He understands Hudson's disinclination to mention O'Neill's application to Father-General Edward Sorin, C.S.C.. He found Hudson's advice to write to Sorin in French "rich". When addressing the community at St. Laurent College, Sorin used English. At Notre Dame he used the same language and then called on Father John A. Zahm, C.S.C. for an English speech. Sorin would suspect latent irony if O'Neill wrote to him in French. ::...

Yesterday O'Neill sent Hudson a translation of Abbe A. Durand's article on the Holy Letter. Anyone who read Daniel "Arthur" Paul's article "Our Lady of the Epistle in the Janiculum" must have concluded that the tradition referred to is merely a pious belief. He has been playing football and has not much time for writing. He sees where Wisconsin gave Notre Dame an awful beating some time ago. Identifier: CHUD X-3-g
Scope and Contents

O'Neill forwards a marked copy of the Catholic Record, London, Ontario, in which appears a sketch of Father G. Lefebvre C.S.C. The sketch was written simply to advertise St. Joseph's in an indirect manner. O'Neill is of the opinion, the "bluenoses" of Holy Cross are too modest in talking up their colleges. Ever since O'Neill read the autobiography of P. T. Barnum he has been a firm believer in the potency of printer's ink. :: X-3-g A.L.S. 1p. 4to.

Clarke who thinks there may be something in Edwards' collection to throw light on the subject, he writes to Edwards.

St. Mary's College, especially about the funds from the parish at Emmittsburg. He asked the Archbishop for a change and was assigned were he is. The income is sufficient and he has 4 missions to attend. He has seen the rumors about the Jesuits, but they would not train up men for the diocese. John McCloskey he considers an old woman in a cassock, George a little better....
