He paid a visit to the inhabitants of St. Remy and would have rendered his homages to Purcell if things could have been arranged. But they offer a pastor only $200 without a horse, firewood, or furniture. It is impossible to accept that position. The contract for the pedestal for the Hale Statue has been given out. The statue is to be unveiled on June 6, the 138th Anniversary of the birth of Nathan Hale. $3,000 is needed to complete the work.
