Rohan's brother, Captain J. W. M'Carrick, is taking his son, Joseph M'Carrick, to enter at Notre Dame. They are the son and grandson of one of the oldest friends of the Ave Maria in their city, Captain Patrick M'Carrick, of blessed memory. At her father's request, Miss Rohan has mailed McMaster a copy of the Norfolk Landmark of November 12 which contains an editorial by James Sarrm Hope. Hope has gone too far out of his way to comment on the Herald's translation of the Encyclical. She hopes McMaster will say something in his paper but leave her father's name out of it. Scope and Contents On Oct. 5 the writer's sister, Miss Mary Rohan, daughter of Capt. P McCarrick, ended a very holy life with a happy death. She was annointed ten days before her death. On Rosary Sunday she asked Father O'Keefe to put the Ave Maria on her heart hoping it would ease the pain. The morning prior to her death she asked to be read a story from the Ave Maria. He encloses a clipping from the Jersey City Evening Journal in which the editor, Major L. K. Pangborn, attacks an article in the Freeman concerning the obedience demanded of Catholics upon order of their Bishop.
