The altar used in the play was done by the young sculptor, Charles A. Lopez of Mr. Ward's studio. He includes the second parcels of "Child Martyrs of Japan", all in order. He is rather disappointed over the fact that he did not receive an offering for his last set of poems. Financially, he is rather hard pressed and would like some remuneration for his next work. He would like to know how many papers he should write for the Ave Maria so he could be on a set schedule. In order to repay Hudson for his kindness he offers a poem, "St. Augustine's Prayer", for publication in the Ave Maria free of charge. When the poem to Our Lady is published he suggests that the title remain unchanged, the explanatory note be omitted, and the second line be revised. He is glad to send the corrected copy of a poem which he considers to be his best. It was written in competition for a statue. He suggests that it be printed on the feast of the Maternity of our Lady. After this poem has been published he will submit another. His work for the Society for Supplying Poor Churches is responsible for the acquisition of many spiritual benefits but it does not provide for his temporal welfare. He died Nov. 18, 1875 in Amherst County, Virginia. He was visiting relatives in Virginia to build up his health. He remained intelligent, cheerful, and conversational almost to the last moment and died peacefully. He asks if the Father I Munroe who delivered a discourse recently in New York is the same I. Munroe who was a nephew of Ex. Pres. Munroe, a Captain in the U. S. Army, resigned about 1857, was connected with the Journal. He was a friend of Robertson's and was reported killed in action near Harper's Ferry during the War. Robinson had to stay three days in Pittsburg and over Sunday with his friend Father F. A. Spencer in New York. Notre Dame was a surprise to Robinson. The Sunday he was in New York he assisted at vespers in the Paulist Church. The custom is being introduced in the East to have all the congregation answer the responses at mass and vespers.
