Robinson had to stay three days in Pittsburg and over Sunday with his friend Father F. A. Spencer in New York. Notre Dame was a surprise to Robinson. The Sunday he was in New York he assisted at vespers in the Paulist Church. The custom is being introduced in the East to have all the congregation answer the responses at mass and vespers.
