The Archbishop sends a list of twenty-one names of delegates to the Columbian Catholic Congress from his diocese. He is entitled to nineteen more cards which he would like to have, if they can be spared.

The city of Dubuque is redeeming its bonds at 20¢ on the dollar. He encloses no enclosure a clipping from the New York Times from the Dubuque Herald of that morning. Hennessy had been told that 25¢ is being paid there and is the highest that can be paid. 20¢ is the most given to persons living at a distance. Hennessy asks if Onahan is interested in the Educational Exhibit of which Bishop Spalding is the head, with Mr. Barry as secretary. He complains that a puny firm has been asked to act as agent for the committee, and that Barry has the impudence to send all letters, the authors' addresses of which are uncertain, to him. As a result, his group is prevented from doing the turn they could for their trans-Atlantic cousins. P.S. Professor Mevart's address is given.

Hennessy talks of books solicited, the loss of the "Victoria", and a fire in London. He spoke to Cardinal (Vaughan) who did not enthuse much over the idea of a committee of one, saying that Monsignor Gadd would be the English representative. He mentions the economic situation produced by the silver question, the rededication of England to St. Peter and St. Mary, the Catholic Lord Mayor, and the royal wedding.

Hennessy has arrived in New York. The weather is as bad as that of Chicago. He has written to Wilfrid Meynell, editor of the "Weekly Register," and J.G.Snead Cox, Editor of the "Table", about the Columbian Catholic Congress. He regrets that his time was so limited in Chicago and thanks Onahan for his kind attention.

There are a goodly number of conversions every year principally among the Bavarians and Germans. Some of the churches, principally in the Milwaukee area, confirm from ten to twenty converts every year. Father Lawrence Schreiner of Grand Rapids asks admission into the Milwaukee Diocese. He has an exeat from Detroit's Vicar-General Peter Kindekens. Henni wants to know whether Schreiner was dismissed for moral offenses. Father August Durst, staying at Chippewa Falls with his countryman, Father J B Smeddinck has written twice, stating he had repeatedly written Lefevere for an exeat, that he might be admitted to the Milwaukee Diocese.
