He would have answered Edwards' letters sooner but he waited for certain news: Father David O'Leary, C.S.C. president of St. Edwards College and Father Thomas Hennessy, C.S.C. vice-president. There were seven new priests ordained, two Poles and one Hungarian. As a result of the St. Mary's elections there were no changes except the mistress of Novices. The Provincial was glad to receive Edwards' letter. Father Timothy O'Sullivan sends regards to Edwards and Mary Cook. :: XI-2-j A.L.S. 1p.

Yesterday was the renewal of the anniversary of Rev. Provincial. Edwards' might have danced a gig with Sister M. Aloysius C.S.C. or his auntie reappointed. Father John B. Scheier C.S.C. and company must have left Los Angeles a few days ago for home. Father General goes to St. Jos eph 's Farm next Saturday to preach a retreat. :: XI-2-j A.L.S. 1p.

Father James Hogan was drowned in Lake Geneva with his brother, sister, and sister-in-law. He knows none in Paris related to Bishop Dupanloup. Sister Cherubim, C.S.C. who intended to go to Bengal has changed her mind. He may send a list of philosophical works which he would like Edwards to get him. It is always a treat to hear of true loyal hearts. Father John Zahm returns Edwards' compliments. They were all pleased with Father Edmund who conducted their retreat. According to all Msgr. John Farley will succeed Archbishop Michael A. Corrigan. They had a splendid banquet at Father Timothy D. O'Sullivan's. He waited until the 23 rd for Father Andrew Morrissey...

He understands that two more priests have left the community, Fathers Frederick Reuter and John Thilman and one Brother, Vigbert of the Ave Maria. Brother Francis replaces him and is replaced himself by Brother Raymond. He is glad Edwards enjoyed his trip and will be pleased to hear Edwards talk of it....
