Lambing received the thirty copies of "Mixed Marriages", but no bill. Yesterday Lambing visited Mr. John O'Brien the oldest resident of Pittsburgh. He arrived in 1806, before there was a Catholic Church or resident priest and when there were but six Catholic families. :: X-2-i A.L.S. 1p. 4to.

Father Lambing can breathe easier now that school is over. He wrote a few sermons which he discusses on mixed marriages for Father Wirth's last volume. He refers to an article in the Irish Eccl . Record, by the Pres. of Marymouth College on the question of whether we should say the Lord or Our Lord in the Hail Mary. Recently a man crazed with drink entered Lambing's church during Sunday vespers weilding a knife. After the devotions were over he wanted to see Lambing, but Lambing was warned in time to escape. Lambing has thought of sending the Holy Father Pope Leo XIII copies of his publications. But such offerings are best made by a person acquainted with both parties. He received Hudson's letter but not the second lot of proof sheets. With two insignificant changes and a rearrangement in the order of the introductory pages he encloses the corrected first proof. The new edition of the Raccolta at 75ยข should be in every household. The need is for more popular works, for the people are not polemical. Lambing says he arrived safely and his brother was a little unwell. He has made some verbal corrections in the manuscript on Mixed Marriages, and a few examples will be added by way of illustration. He thought of making some comment on divorce, but it would have to be very brief. The pamphlet will be about 8 or 10 pages larger than it was and may have to be reexamined by the Bishop.
