Resolution that the Congress strongly endorse the principles and application of conciliation and arbitration as the proper remedies for the settlement of strikes and lockouts and that it instruct the permanent committee to consider promptly and adopt the most feasible methods for putting such a system of arbitration into execution. Submitted by T. J. Sheridan.

Combaud is a French priest 33 ½ years old who wishes to exercises his ministry in America. He has done so in France and has also been a teacher in lower classes. He has heard that in Louisiana there is much good to be done. If Perché could use him, he is to write to the Archbishop of Reims. One difficulty would be the money to go to America. P.S. Since these repairs will not add to the danger of fire, they can be granted by the mayor. Communy signs as overseer of the First Municipality. William? Comte asks a favor for a poor widow. Cyrille Michon of Montreal, who lived for some years at New Orleans, is said to have died last June. His mother, Widow Herse, has heard this news; it was her only son. Comte asks for information about this rumor. It would be a great consolation for this mother to learn that her son died a good Christian. The books Blanc ordered on November 27 were sent per the "Amazon" on October 28 and must be in the store of the boat agents Walton and Cockayne. The balance were forwarded 8 or 10 days ago. Father Hercule Brassac did not mention by what vessel the engravings, etc. were being shipped. They were directed to Father Jeanjean. A few days ago Conaty sent Fathers John Boylan, Arthur Finnegan and M'Sharry to America, to collect funds for a diocesan seminary. Since their departure Conaty has been informed that there is a rule of the American Hierarchy prohibiting persons to collect monies without their approbation. He has not the courage to ask for permission; all he hopes for is the silence of charity in their regard.
