He received his letter aboard the Lucania. The homeward voyage over the Atlantic was most enjoyable. The heat in America made him long for the invigorating atmosphere of Norway. He is sorry that he has not succeeded in getting a better copy of the Lapp Mother and Child. Edwards has secured a new subscriber for the series in the person of Professor Joseph A. Lyons . Edwards wishes it were possible for him to order one hundred thousand copies. He should thank Farrell for the delightful time he had at Cleveland attending the Golden Jubilee Ceremonies. The after dinner speeches revealed the paternal spirit which animates the clergy of Cleveland. He was delighted to find the saintly Bishop Amadeus Rappe was firmly imbedded in the hearts of the priests and people. The Cathedral is perfect and he liked the color combination. The chapel is now roofed but the windows are not yet in, and Father Alexis Granger fears that Brownson would not want his father's remains brought here until everything is complete. Father General Edwards F. Sorin, C.S.C. requests Edwards to ask Brownson to name the day for the transfer of the remains of Orestes A. Brownson to Notre Dame. The Brownson Chapel is not finished, but the remains can be placed in a side chapel of the new addition to the Church. It will be necessary to have some persons to escorts the remains to Notre Dame. Walsh fears that Edwards has been an annoyance to Brownson and Father Ernest Van Dyke, who he hopes will say a few words at the ceremony. Edwards sent twelve negatives of Gregori's series of paintings representing the life of Columbus; they cost him $19. If Brownson has engravings made he is to state under each picture the name of the painter and the University of Notre Dame. They have changed the Seniors' Dormitory to Brownson Hall in honor of Orestes A. Brownson; for the future the Seniors will be called "Brownsons". :: III-3-d A.L.S. 2pp. 12mo.

He has just read her letter and he is sure he did not refuse to lend her the originals. He said that he would send them to her if she would promise to return them to him within a week. He prizes the letters more than anything because the letters were written to him by one for whom he entertains the most intense reverence and love.
