Jordan, Margaret, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1888 August 14

 Item — Box: CHUD 12
Identifier: CHUD X-3-h

Scope and Contents

Jordan sends a sketch of "Old St. Dominic's." Jordan called on the author of Kathleen Mavourneen, an old organist at the church. She then visited Watertown, where she met the sister of the second pastor. It was only two years ago that she learned anything about the life of the founder, Father Charles Dominic Ffrench, O.P. Jordan met an old lady who had known Ffrench in St. Johns where Jordan had heard he had trouble but the statement of this old lady set her completely at rest. Ffrench and Bishop Benedict Joseph Fenwick were warm friends. Ffrench founded the parish in Lawrence, now in the hands of the Augustinians. :: X-3-h A.L.S. 2pp. 4to.
