Scope and Contents The four girls and Mrs. Morgan went downtown. Hudson's letter was waiting for her when she arrived here on Wednesday. When she left Keokuk she did expect to remain in St. Louis three weeks but the programme was so pleasant she could hardly persuade herself to leave. She has heard nothing of Notre Dame commencement exercises. Mother Lucretia sent a description of the exhibit at St. Mary's. On leaving St. Louis Wednesday morning she met Father John A. Zahm, C.S.C. getting off the train....

Illness has prevented Gordon's writing Hudson. Hudson failed to tell her how Mother Lucretia was looking when he recently met her. Gordon has little confidence in her ability to write magazine articles. She read the novel "Rosa Ferrence" which Hudson sent her. The beginning of a new school year make s her realize that it is thirteen years since she first entered St. Mary's Academy. Father Hudson's letter, the Ave Maria, and Scholastic, were received with gratitude. She visited Nauvoo, Illinois one day. She describes this trip and other activities which keep her busy and happy. A previous engagement will prevent her from visiting St. Mary's until July. Her cousin was given a $175 pony. The Gibbons would like Fr. With the flood on the Mississippi and the Ohio Rivers at Cairo, Gordon's father sent her to stay with her grandmother at Villa Ridge, a rural villages which she describes in details. Her father wishes Gordon to go to the Philadelphia Medical College, but she protests, since she does not wish to begin studying again. ::...
