Crane is shocked at the iniquities practiced in the Midway Plaisance and that such things are allowed by the commissioners chosen to represent the American people. If they fairly represent the American people, what kind of people must they be? He hopes public sentiment will speak against it, even though now there is much silence on the subject.

Crawford sends 50 cents and his wife a gold seal, to be disposed of and the proceeds sent to Rome, as a token of their affection for the Holy Father. Crawford hopes that the doctrine of the Pope's infallibility will soon be passed upon, and that the Freeman's Journal will be dressed in its best garb when the good tidings are received. He is managing the show The A. C. Thurston Company. He wanted to return to school this year but his father could not afford it. There is a great deal to do and he is inexperienced in this line. They will probably play South Bend in January. Some of his people are good and others are bad.

Father John DeNeve, who has been seriously ill, has charged him to tell the Bishop that his letters have been received and the business attended to, even though he cannot do it himself.
