Fenwick certifies that he has made Father Michael Cummins, the rector of St. Anthony church in Monroe, Michigan Territory, his attorney with the power to let, sell, or devise a certain property which he describes, conveyed to him by Martin Badeau a trustee of St. Anthony church. The money arising from this act is to be used to finish the new brick church of St. Anthony. He acknowledges receipt of their letter about the church property at Ferrysburg. If the project of building a church is given up, Ferry requests that the lots revert to him, as he gave them solely for church purposes. His claim is $152.59 paid by him to mechanics and for lumber, dating from July 1858. If Lefevere wishes to sell the building, Ferry will give $300, since it is but a shell. Since Father Hudson has published some of her verses she takes the liberty of addressing him, and sending him "The Mixed Marriage or the Free of Duty". She asks for remuneration since they have to depend upon ungrateful tenants in their poor country of Ireland.
