Mannix knows a Miles Galligan, who appropriated building association funds in Cincinnati. John B. Mannix advanced the money and got him a job in a railroad depot. He left his situation after paying little more than half the debt. Mannix's article "Jeanie Reilly" is completed. Her boy, John, writes that his Aunt Ella allows them to stay on her reception days. There were 212 ladies but John thought "Mamma is the nicest." Mannix quotes part of a letter from a Brooklyn friend, in which he says that while he was with the Mannix family he was a new man. She is worried about the young man because of his self-depreciation.
