Murphy has been occupied with giving missions and retreats. While he was at Knock, three pilgrims witnessed an apparition of the Blessed Virgin on the feast of Saint Aloysius, to whom the people and their pastor, Archdeacon B. A. Cavanagh have special devotion. Murphy considers this apparition at a time when Ireland is passing through a crisis, as having significance in the designs of God. Murphy is not well and in about three weeks he will go to Galway for a rest. He supposes Hudson received the last chapter or the Irish Legends. Hudson should not believe half of what he hears about Irish outrages, many of the reports are manufactured by the enemy to give reasons for their injustice towards Ireland. P.S. Murphy has just received the December Ave Maria from Gill. "Little Julia" is at present a boarder at the Sacred Heart Convent, Armagh. Murphy is happy to see three chapters of the "Irish Legends" this month. He believes that the Ave Maria is best suited for sodalities. Ireland is quiet now. Scope and Contents Murphy thanks Hudson for his book on Purgatory, and his continually sending the Ave Maria. There is nothing like the Ave Maria in all Ireland, and it is needed in the 260 Irish convents, as well as in the schools. In his letter about "Knock", Murphy made one mistake, it was not the late Archbishop of Tuam, but the present one, John Mac Evilly, who authorized the building of the convent.
