Sister was absent when Odin's few lines appended to the letter of Dr. Louis C. D'Homergue was received. It would afford her great pleasure to comply with Odin's request to allow Sister Mary Aid to return to New Orleans but it is not in their power. Sister Aid's health was suffering from over exertion and she has nearly lost her sight. They hope a change of climate may restore her. On his return he found the package containing the fine old English watch and seal. He has put them in the hands of friends of his who are searching for the owner. Arnoldus Vanderhorst accidently shot himself some years ago. He was the nephew of R.W. Vanderhorst, the original owner of the watch. Northrop does not know whether he left issue. Scope and Contents In answer to Clarke's letter of Mar. 10, Northrop knows of nothing to add to the life of Bishop Patrick Neeson Lynch given after his death in the Charleston paper which he sent to Clarke. There are some pages in Dr. J.J. O'Connell' s book, which it was thought Lynch prepared himself. Archbishop John McCloskey of New York was his bosom friend and might give Clarke some information. Northrop sends McMaster $3 as the subscription fee for the Freeman's Journal and a donation of $2 to the Carmelite Convent in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is not sure that McMaster collects for that institution but sends the money anyway.
