The first number of Father B.S. Bayerle's "Ecclesiastical Year" and the Catholic legends by Father A. Stolz for the use of the laity has just been published and will appear regularly every two weeks. He would appreciate it much if his humble efforts were meritorious enough to receive a favorable notice in McMaster's esteemed paper. In compliance with Blanc's wish, Noguès left the seminary the day after receiving his letter and went to St. Louis where he saw Father John Anthony Elet, S.J. and was admitted as a novice. He hopes he will persevere. He asks Blanc's pardon for the trouble he has caused him for almost 5 years and thanks him for his kindness. P.S. He is only waiting for an order from Blanc to begin the printing of the catechism. On receipt of Blanc's letter, Mr. Morgan is to print 3000 copies. It could be delivered about June 15 or Noguès could bring them July 15. Noguès corrected the proofs. But the Cincinnati edition will not be without mistakes and Blanc may prefer the Baltimore edition. Noguès begins his retreat on June 12 and believes he will come out of it still Blanc's subject. Noguès received Blanc's letter yesterday. He has just finished his retreat and is still Blanc's subject and will be going to New Orleans toward July 15. E. Morgan sent the Cathechisms yesterday. Father Cyril Delacroix wrote before vacation that Blanc would leave Noguès another year at St. Xavier College. Noguès is glad. His progress in Latin and Greek is slow and he often thinks he will not know enough to become a priest. He wants Blanc to know what he really is. He believes God's will is that he become a secular priest yet there aré moments when it seems he should embrace the religious state. He has begun the school year studying passably well but he is far from shining in his classes. Father John Anthony Elet, S.J. showed him the letter Blanc wrote about him. It was somewhat embarrassing. It is not at all his intention to become the subject of another bishop. He did not think he was going against Blanc's designs in accepting the offer to be sacristan at St. Xavier Church.
