He saw with great joyPurcell's letter to Father Geyerstanger containing the faculty of restoring him the power of saying Mass. He is grateful to Purcell and will carry out the prescribed penance of his confessor. He is willing to receive his dimissorial letters or go to another diocese. For the future he assures Purcell that his life will be satisfactory. Added to this are the two following notes.

Reading Orestes Brownson 's essays has helped him. The essay "A Visit to the Blessed Sacrament" is the most striking feature of the book to Norfleet. Norfleet is in trouble, his brother has been away from Notre Dame since January 14th, after obtaining permission to be absent for a few hours. Now he wishes to return, but Father Thomas Walsh refuses to let him. He cannot return home. Norfleet asks Hudson to talk to Walsh, so that, he will change his mind and allow Norfleet's brother to return to Notre Dame before next fall. :: X-2-m A.L.S. 3pp. 12mo.
