Haire received her letter and called twice on Mr. Purcell but he has no record of the money nor did he receive the letter she mentions from Niagara. She is to send up the note and Haire will forward it to her without delay. On referring to his book on February 20, 1850, Purcell finds no name to correspond with hers. He was unable to remain at Seton's house on Tuesday because of an engagement in town. He has no connection whatever with "America Heraldica." It is ostensibly gotten up by Brentano but Haldane is under the impression that someone else is behind it. At Easter she will begin her novitiate with the Benedictines at St. Mary's Priory, Princethorpe, Warwickshire. They are a very select Community and she is fortunate to find admittance. They are all going to spend Christmas with her stepmother in their old home and then Halkett goes to Rome to return to England in March.

She received (Seton)'s two photographs, his letter and the picture. The account of (Seton)'s venerable aunt's (Mother Catherine Seton?) engagement is most edifying and interesting. Halkett has been so busy moving. The influenza is raging terribly there and causes many deaths. She plans to go to Scotland and Germany in August. She hopes some day to visit the Phelps Stokes (?) and will come to see (Seton).

Hall asks Brownson's advice on a Michigan mortgage question. Hall believes that Cleveland will run, and, though there is talk of Irish defection, he thinks it will not amount to much. Kelly will not fight but he would not hesitate to betray a man he had nominated himself if he could gain by it. Hall finds that the "bands" of his sister's marriage have never been published, Ma having forgotten it. Hall left that to them and fully expected it would be attended to. He asks the favor to dispense with the two publications as there is only one Sunday before the marriage. After Blanc agreeing to marry them, Hall is almost afraid to ask.
