Wilkins perceives that certain persons have plowed and planted the field immediately below the fort and have fenced in the ground in the rear of the Catholic Church and are proceeding to build on it. As this land is included within the survey of the Military Reserve, Wilkins asks whether these persons are acting under the direction of Menet and, if so, by what authority Menet claims the land. Copy of L.S. To this Menet adds a copy of his own answer.

Doubtless, McMaster will receive a cablegram concerning the appointments of Bishops to the United States, and when he does, Willard requests him to telegraph him the name of the man appointed as Coadjutor to the Archbishop of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This is the only information he asks by telegraph. He gives his address as being Editor of the Catholic Citizen, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her husband is not a catholic and neither party was baptized before the marriage. There should be a central bureau of a Society for the Promotion of Catholic Interests that could receive such donations and give information. McMaster suggested something of the sort in one or two issues of the Journal and should recur to it frequently, for people are impressed only by repitition....
