Father Wilmes of Milwaukee who was mentioned by Father Kirsch proved to be very generous. He surrendered his collection made on his European tour. He finds hundreds that will serve his purpose. He wants to work and as Edwards knows his gifts editorial, linguistic and otherwise, he might interest himself in Mahon's behalf. His heart yearns for a western editorship. Father Daniel E. Father Weyer, a Dominican, formerly a physician now living in the diocese of Detroit asks the Holy Father for permission to practice medicine. In the Audience of Jan. 19, 1834, Pope Gregory XVI ordered Mai as secretary of the Sacred Congregation of the Propaganda to tell him that the Pope grants this permission to him on condition that he accept nothing for these services, and that he is sufficiently qualified.
