Mother Baptista was the sister of the late Bishop Patrick Lynch of Charleston, South Carolina; was superior for 29 years, was 54 years old; made her novitiate at Cincinnati and was sent to Charleston to found a convent which was destroyed by the Federal Army in 1865.
