O'Cleary thanks Hudson for the 125 francs received for correspondence rendered to the Ave Maria. He assures Hudson that he will send the relics but that there will be some delay. The Cardinal Vicar is strict about granting relics because of unbecoming frauds at Rome. His health is so poor that he must return to Ireland. He is threatened with paralysis. The only clue O'Connell has yet found as to the sender of the precious work, Ubaldi's introductio ad Sacram Scripturam is the name of McMaster on the envelope enclosing it. He asks for the bill for the book and also a picture of McMaster and his wife. He deeply regrets her death and is sorry he never met her personally while she lived.
