He writes concerning the badge Edwards sent for St. Michael's Jr. Pioneer Corps. The drill was won by John J.Mckee. There is a falling off in the corps. Mr. Thomas Downing is leaving them and the rest are disquited over that. Hanagan asks Edwards to write to Downing not to leave and to bring back the boys who left.

He has been waiting anxiously to hear if the photo of his Grace would be suitable for the purpose. All think the one he sent the best. The report of the delegates to the Notre Dame convention have inspired their members to renewed efforts in behalf of total abstinence. The boys of the pioneer corps consider the few days spent at Notre Dame the happiest of their lives. He will forward some rosaries to be blessed by Father Sorin or Walsh. :: XI-1-d A.L.S. 4pp. 12mo.

Handlin, Catherine M., Fort Smith, Arkansas, to James Alphonsus McMaster, New York, New York, 1874 September 24
Mrs. Handlin reports the miraculous cure of a sore on her foot, which all other remedies had failed to cure. On Sept 17, 1874 she applied a drop of the Lourdes water, and in the morning was able to wear a shoe. Since that time her foot has not pained her, and the sore is healing rapidly. A.L.S. 2pp. 8vo. She was in St. Louis and had delightful weather. She regretted to hear of Edwards' illness and hopes he will not feel serious effects from the stroke. Lizzie has the grippe.
