When Father Smith went abroad in 1884 he left 6 volumes of the Catholic Columbian, 1875 to 1882, in Ewing's hands. Father Smith died at Baden-Baden, leaving M. A. Dougherty his executor. Ewold sends $6.20, of which he names three contributors. He asks McMaster to publish in the Freeman a notice of the death of his daughter Maggie, who was born November 28, 1876, and died February 24, 1886 of brain fever.
