In answer to Edwards' letter he writes that every vestment in the episcopal sacristy at Vincennes belonged to Bishop (Celestine de la) Hailandiere. Bishop (Maurice) De St.Palais never bought any. There can be no difficulty in procuring souvenirs. Audran cannot get them himself. When he returned from France with the remains of Bishop Hailandiere, the present rector of the Cathedral brutally shut the door in his face.

Now that he received Edwards' letter he is sorry that instead of having one card sent to the head of the Community of Holy Cross in notice of his 50th anniversary, he did not have a particular one sent to each of his friends. He is in a precarious condition because of Bright's incurable disease. He encloses the letter of Judge Joseph Belan. Among his papers he found a letter to Father Paul Jausions, O.S.B., a grandnephew of Bishop Simon Brute who has been urged by Bishop Celestine de las Hailandiere to come to the United States to write the life of Brute, Father Jausions made a trip to New Orleans and on his return died without accomplishing anything. :: XI-1-l A.L.S.
