Jarlath called on Father James Moriarty and received a cold reception because of Hudson's failure to review his book. When the book was published he had a copy sent to every Catholic editor. When he failed to see the review in the Ave Maria he wrote Hudson inquiring about it but received no reply. Scope and Contents Jarlath does not want the whole series of the Ave Maria. Separate volumes which contain the whole of any series of articles or stories would suffice, since he wants them for a stories would suffice, since he wants them for a circulating library. Jarlath's parish is poor, it is mainly composed of boatmen of the Lakes. They are models of goodness despite temptations to their faith. Their poverty is beyond anything seen outside Ireland.
