She has been in the Morman state since Christmas eve. She had a delightful visit with Sister Lucretia. St. Mary's Academy has a fine building with 170 pupils. Had our Lord spared their Providence Home a day or two longer, Edwards would have received a letter penned within its walls. Edwards knows the cause of her delay since the never-to-be-forgotten 7th of Feb. at St. Mary's. Mother Euphrasia appreciates Edwards' letter; she is no better. She has waited to know the results of her search for letters of the Bishop Edwards mentioned. She wrote to Mother Julia Superior in St. Louis, but all the letters are of too private a nature. Their reverend Mother asked her to write Edwards with the hope that in the collection he got at Vincennes there are some letters and mss. relative to the early experiences of their holy founders, Mother Theodore Guerin, for whom the Bishop has given permission for the prosecution of the cause of canonization. Scope and Contents Since the death of Mrs. McMaster, Sister M. Ambrose of the Sisters of Providence has kept a mortuary card bearing her picture in her prayer-book, and so she sends McMaster a mortuary card commemorating Bishop Maurice St. Palais, of Vincennes, Indiana, who has died recently. The Bishop always subscribed to the Freeman's Journal and had good faith in McMaster's judgment. She promises to pay her subscription fee as soon as McMaster sends her the amount of his charges. :: I-2-b A.L.S. 2pp....

She asks where they can get the drama "Anima". They are happy to learn that the good Sisters Holy Cross are generous enough to give other Convent schools the privilege of presenting the drama. They expected Edwards to visit them during the vacation. They hope Brother de Sales C.S.C. will visit them next summer. The entire Community is grateful for McMaster's kindness to them, especially those who were Mother Theodore's daughters in Christ when McMaster was first attracted to St. Mary's years ago. The Sisters of Providence hold the editor and the Freeman's Journal in high esteem. When Sister Mary Joseph was on her death bed she humbly wished that her sister in France would not see a glowing obituary...
