She was delighted to receive Edwards' letter. The little Church near there is attended by the Franciscan Fathers and has all the privileges for the devotion established by St. Francis of Assisi. Mass was said Aug. 2 for Rebecca Carroll. The priest in charge of the Mission gave her a fourleaf clover and she construed it into a message from St. Francis to join the Third Order. She thanks Edwards for the invitation to the Golden Jubilee. :: XI-1-m A.L.S. 4pp.

They are enroute to Washington. Their nephew D. Carroll Fitzhugh will meet them today. They were fearfully disappointed at Atlantic City. The ocean view is crowded out by booths along the board walk. She encloses a letter that might interest Edwards. Mrs. Fitzhugh is their eldest sister. P.S. She suggests that Father General install a "Merry go round" for the minims; it would be a money-making business.

Words cannot express her sorrow when she learned that Edwards had been in Bay Head six times whilst she was there. She was there with her nephew, Carroll Fitzhugh. Emily Brent 's sister, Mrs. R. S. Miss Emily C. Brent is not well; she is suffering from extreme nervous depression on account of some mismanagement about her business. It really has a most unhappy effect upon her mind. At last she has settled down for the winter. She loves quiet and retirement. She would be happy to hear from Edwards. On next Sunday the new St. Peter's Church is to be dedicated. Bishop John J. Keane of Catholic University will preach. Miss Emily Brent is improving steadily. Hugh Burritt received his promotion to $1000 per year in the Census Bureau. Father John Carroll of Chicago will send Edwards some books belonging to his uncle Bishop Edmund Burke of Helifax who landed in Quebec May 16, 1787. Burke was born in 1745, in Queen's County, Ireland. Her sister Rebecca is quite sick. They wrote Mother Angela a long letter.
