If what Blanc said about the Brownson Review was to pay his subscription, O'Donnell cannot do it; the publishers will collect from Blanc. Bishop Odin paid O'Donnell two subscriptions to it and commenced a correspondence which lasted months and took a score of letters to settle. The same happened with Dr. Smith of Grand Coteau. O'Donnell has had the enclosed letter no enclosure for some time and went to see Blanc but he was not home. He has received other letters from his brother since and he says he wrote Blanc recalling whatever he said injurious about O'Donnell in his first. Scope and Contents He had hoped to have Purcell visit them after the third Cathedral Sunday, but since Purcell has so many appointments he cannot expect him so soon. He asks that as soon as he can, Purcell visit Washington, Ohio to bless the corner stone of the new church and to confirm a few. Since the people are so distant and are mostly employees, they could hardly attend on a week day and they hope that Purcell will visit on a Sunday. At the request of some Catholics who felt an interest in Catholic education he was induced to write McMaster a letter for publication. Since two issues of the Journal have come out since it was received by McMaster he takes it for granted that he does not desire to publish it and asks that it be returned. Oechtering arrived in Antwerp on May 19th. On May 28th he made his promised pilgrimage to the Shrine at Telgte. The atmosphere is very Catholic, even though the Cultur-Kampf is still going on. Oechtering assisted at the consecration of a new church at Mesum. Bishop Herman Dingelstadt of Munster took part in the ceremonies.
