Mannix, Mary E., Cincinnati, Ohio, to Father Daniel E. Hudson,c.s.c., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1888 March 21
Scope and Contents
Mannix does not think that Hudson ought to have sent her any money for those verses. A rich man in Cincinnati who has known her since she was born told her that if he could serve her in any way she should let him know. Her husband has said in various letters that if they had a home of their own they could get along nicely out there. Rents are exceedingly high. She wrote to this widely known philanthopist asking if he would lend her $2,500. The gentleman replied that he could not loan the money because business was bad and offered to give her $200 to pay her and her family's way to California which she refused. Her husband sends regards from San Diego. :: X-3-g A.L.S. 8pp. 12mo.
