Stoddard, Charles Warren, Covington, Kentucky, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1888 March 20
Scope and Contents
Stoddard received the bound volume of Ave Maria and the a Kempis. Hudson's letter came with Rene Papin's pages and sketch. Stoddard never saw the "Royal Guardsman." He read "Journey Round my Room" years ago. Rene will be 17 in a year; he is an artist. Paul Papin was a musician, but for that he would have been a priest. But art will never come between Rene and the altar. Luigi Gregori will see the uncommon individuality in the pencil sketch. A lady from San Francisco, Mrs. Dr. Lane sent Stoddard a volume of her letters of travel and also wrote him complimenting him on "Lepers of Molokai." Stoddard has a paper on Monte Cassino he will send. Has Charlie Porter reappeared? :: X-3-g A.L.S. 6pp. 12mo.
