Duranquet, S.J., Father Henry, Worcester, Massachusetts, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1888
Scope and Contents
The Chardon family is under the impression that the Jesuit priest stationed at the old Jesuit mission of the River St. Joseph about the year 1700 was one of their relatives. Charlevoix calls the Father Chardon there in 1700, Pierre, the "Lettres Edifiantes" calls him Jean B. The family thinks that the name of their Jesuit uncle was George. If there were at the old mission some register, list, grave, or any information about Father Chardon it will be a great gratification for them. Duranquet has been transferred from the charitable and penal institutions of Blackwell's Island and other islands. Father Raphael Gelinas, S.J. succeeded him. His brother, Father Duranquet, is in charge of the Indian mission in Manitoulin Island, Lake Huron. :: X-3-f A.L.S. 2pp. 8vo.
