Toohey, C.S.C., Father John M., Taylor, Texas, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1887 August 27
Scope and Contents
Since Toohey has not started his missionary career from which Father Provincial Alexis Granger, C.S.C. expects so much hard cash, he need not consider himself tied up by his quasi-promise or resolution to write for the public. His objection to being sent to Watertown is that he feels that when a priest comes home he should be with brother and priests and not thrown in among young fellows studying for the priesthood. There is no place at Notre Dame or the Presbytery except you put Father-General and Father Granger out and send Brother Gus off with them. Toohey expected Father Jacob Lauth, C.S.C. this week. :: X-3-e A.L.S. 3pp. 12mo.
